Cold War Buzz Words- Free SolutionÃÂ
Question: The Cold War its very own verbiage. The West had more than its share: Cold War, Iron Curtain, Containment, Domino Theory were just a few. What did they mean in this strange new post-war environment? Answer: It was after the end of World War II that the world witnessed to something known as Cold War, where countries like the United States and the USSR played a major role. The cold war had a unique meaning attached to its name which meant that the giants were afraid to fight each other directly and thus engaged themselves in threatening and denouncing each other and supporting arguments in different parts of the world (Brower Sanders, 2014). Domino Theory found its place in the cold war era which stated that a political event or scenario will affect the neighboring countries in the same way. Though in modern times it is difficult to apply this theory and assume how much of an optimistic impact will a positive change in the economical or military scenario of a country brings in its neighboring countries. The post Cold-war period was defined by three major things. The first being the materialization of United States as the powerhouse, the second seeing the rise of China as the epicenter of industrial growth standing on low wages and the third witnessing Europe emerging as an economic power (Green, 2014). Soviet Union was left reeling with the after effects of the cold war saga that broke it completely. Even in the face of falling economy, the United States has been able to combine economic, military and political power in the best way to ensure its continued dominance. A major reason of USAs victory over the USSR in the cold war period was also because of the same. However, Russia is slowly re-emerging with a lot of deals and hopes of re-establishing Moscows political authority in a significant manner. Reference: Brower, D. R., Sanders, T. (2014).
